Surgical Care

We would love to welcome you to the South Dublin Vets family, where your pet is cared for like one of our own. Our door is always open for you and your pet.

WE ARE HERE WHEN THEY NEED US MOST

Surgery

Our qualified Veterinary Surgeons are able to perform many surgeries in house including but not limited to, orthopaedics, neutering, soft tissue surgeries, dental and tumour removals.

We often operate late in the day if emergency surgery is needed. Sometimes we will need to refer your pet for some specialist orthopaedic procedures, and we have a number of hospitals that we use.

Instructions

We know that surgery can be daunting as a pet owner but, we will help and guide you along the way.

BEFORE SURGERY

  • Please ensure that your pet does not have any food or water after their dinner the night before surgery.
  • We will ask you to bring your pet in between 7am and 9am in the morning.
  • Once your pet is admitted, we will do a full health check on them before we administer any sedation.

DURING SURGERY

Your pet will be monitored throughout the surgery by a qualified veterinary nurse. They will be monitoring your pets vitals and will administer any medication that may be needed such as pain killer, antibiotic etc.

AFTER SURGERY

  • Your pet will be monitored throughout the day
  • Once the surgeon is happy with your pets recovery, you will be contacted to arrange a collection time for your pet.
  • When you collect your pet, your Vet will discuss any take home medications and post-surgery care that your pet may need.

We will perform a post-surgery call the next day to see how you and your pets is doing and any concerns you may have can be noted and then discussed with a Vet.
